By providing cutting edge logistics solutions, Uniworld Logistics and its partners successfully transported Spanish Railway Giant Talgo Cars’ nine railway carriages for the Indian Railways’ ambitious Bullet Train Project.
Uniworld Logistics was part of a momentous occasion in the history of the Indian Railways recently. The Government’s decision to roll out high speed trains on our railway tracks had gained traction and as part of its’ trial phase, the Ministry placed an order for nine high speed coaches from Spain train maker Talgo Cars.
Uniworld partnered with the Spanish firm’s logistics partner Skylark Solutions and Gefco to ensure transport of the cars from Madrid to North East Railway’s Izzat Nagar workhop. Uniworld and partners oversaw the logistics from Barcelona to Mumbai port. Post customs clearance, we ensured seamless discharge over a 1600 km stretch. The Talgo cars were delivered to the Indian Railway’s workshop in Uttar Pradesh. The entire exercise took around 45 days (including international transit, customs and transport within India).
The rail wagons were assembled soon after and assessed for their capacity to run at a speed of 160-200 km taking into account the current infrastructure of the Railways. The trial phase was planned in three stages on three different routes. This undertaking was envisaged to reduce travel time between Indian cities whilst increasing fuel efficiency by 30%.
Once the test was successfully conducted, Uniworld and its partners helped in safely transporting the carriages back to the Talgo Headquarters in Spain. Our fleet vehicle management systems were equipped with the latest technology and enabled to track the delivery at any given point. The timely delivery of services, high quality orchestration, impeccable coordination standards and the tireless efforts of the team were lauded by all concerned.
Through this effort, Uniworld played an instrumental role in bringing Indian travelers one step closer to their dream of fast train journeys across the country, replete with comfortable and swank coaches. The safe transport of the carriages across continents was a demonstration of the strength of strategic collaboration in the Logistics sector – including correct planning, an army of right resources, and latest technology.
